On Friday we gathered to wish Zach Rigsby good luck in his new job and to honor him for his service with us. A long time School Resource Officer assigned to Beebe schools, Zach has been tapped to be the police chief of the newly formed Beebe School District Police Department. Dispatcher, Jailer, Patrolman, SRO and now Chief. Good luck Zach!

Sheriff Phillip Miller presents Corporal Dustin Strayhorn with a Life Saving Award for his actions on January 20, 2023 in providing life saving intervention on a overdose victim. Dustin has been sharing his talents with us since 2016 when he hired on as a jailer. Since then he has come to patrol and taken a leadership position. He also serves as an SRT member.

Sheriff Phillip Miller presents Corporal Kyle Williams with a Life Saving Award for his actions on May 26, 2023 using Narcan to save an overdose victim. Kyle Williams has been making a difference in White County since 2013 when he started a jailer. Since then he has been a patrolman, School Resource Officer, K-9, diver and SRT member. If there is one person at the Sheriff's Office you don't want to run on foot from it's Kyle.

Sheriff Phillip Miller presents Deputy Maria Strayhorn with a Letter of Commendation for her actions performing CPR after arriving at a call of a unresponsive citizen. Maria has been excelling with us since 2019 when she began her career as jailer and then moved to patrol in 2021.

White County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bask to get donation of body armor

White County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bask will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Bask’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “In honor of K9 Gabo, Jonesboro Police, AR”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 3,500 protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million dollars.

The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months of age. New K9 graduates, as well as K9s with expired vests, are eligible to participate.

The donation to provide one protective vest for a law enforcement K9 is $950.00. Each vest has a value between $1,744 – $2,283 and a five-year warranty, and an average weight of 4-5 lbs. Sheriff Miller nominated White County Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Captain Kyle Toler and CID Lieutenant Detective Chancey Warden to attend the LEADER program at the Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute in Little Rock and they were selected to attend the one week instruction of several key note speakers and training.

The ARKANSAS LEADER program is designed for Chiefs, Sheriffs, and other upper-level management within a law enforcement agency and takes a multi-faceted, dynamic approach to leadership training and is designed to advance individual professional development and education that is transferable to their respective organizations and communities.

The ARKANSAS LEADER program is jointly sponsored by the Criminal Justice Institute and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
